If there was ever a time I wanted to be 9 years old again it was last weekend when I had the magical experience of attending a woodland fairy garden birthday party.
I’ve been to my fair share of kids’s birthdays and will admit that, despite the beautiful invite we received and the promise of an enchanting experience, the closest I thought I would get to an actual fairy was some sprinkles on bread and butter.
How wrong I was!
From the moment we arrived at the birthday girl’s house we were transported to a place of wonder, wishes and whimsy.
The table was set up for a high tea party fit for the Queen of the Fairies – complete with toadstool cushions and a fine tea set – and it was all I could do not to sit myself down at the head of the table!
Fit for a Fairy Princess
There was also a mouth-watering refreshment stand personalised for the birthday girl and all her friends. Sweet treats, pink lemonade, fairy floss (of course!), fluffy marshmallows, fresh fruit, cake pops and jelly – all the things to make your tummy flutter! Hubby had to physically restrain me from eating everything on arrival.
We recently threw a Wiggles themed birthday party for our oldest and I feel like I will be apologising for years to our nearest and dearest for the noise and chaos created by what felt like a thousand toddlers screaming at the top of their lungs in an enclosed space.
It couldn’t have been any different to the afternoon’s activities put on by Magic Hollows. There was a fairy treasure hunt, face painting and the highlight of the day – all the little fairies made their own fairy garden to take home. Seriously I’m not sure how I held myself back from shoving the smallest fairy out of the way at this point! It looked like SO much fun!
I think one of the best things of the day (and clearly the worst thing for me!) was that adults were completely surplus to requirement. Magic Hollows had everything taken care of – from set up to pack up, providing all the supplies, invitations, prizes, equipment and even a beautiful fairy princess host to organise all the activities. The only thing they don’t supply is the food (but all the containers and set up for the food was included.)
The birthday girl even got a special gift from the fairy kingdom and all the guests were made to feel like fairy princesses.
I’ve since learned that it’s not only Fairy Parties that Magic Hollows can organise – they have a birthday package to suit everyone (aged 4 upwards) , and for both boys and girls – from Wild Things teepee parties to magical high teas. And all for the same price as a party at the bowling alley or the movies.
If you’re looking for a magical school then look no further! Magic Hollows also do classes on how to build your own fairy garden – a perfect activity for the weekend or school holidays. AND there are adult classes – YAY!
Another thing you can find on their fab website (apart from glowing testimonials from a lot of happy customers) is everything you need to create your own fairy garden at home – perfect if you don’t live in Sydney. You can get your own piece of fairy kingdom delivered directly to your door! (I think they should call themselves Fae-Mart!)
So if you live in Sydney and are looking for an enchanting party, a magical gift or an ethereal workshop then look no further than Magic Hollows.
As well as bringing some fairy fun into your life you will be supporting a local family business – and that’s where the real magic lies.
