Underwear – it’s a lot like mobile phones (stay with me…..)
I don’t think that I know anybody who uses their phone just for calling people. What would be the point of that anyway? If you just used your phone as a phone then you’d need a hundred other devices or diaries to keep track of your life. My iPhone is currently my communication device, my camera, the way I do my banking, my vaccination reminder, my weatherman, my newsreader, my calculator, my budget tracker, my GPS – the list goes on.
I am a massive multi-tasker and I admire others, and products, that can wear lots of different hats. Or underpants.
Enter Modibodi – just like the iPhone these undies will change your life! Not just a simple way to cover your bum – Modibodi describe themselves as the ‘revolutionary women’s high-tech underwear company that empowers women of all ages, shapes and sizes to live a better life’.
It’s a massive claim – but one they can back up with the gazillion awards they’ve won already despite only launching in 2013. Modibodi is performance underwear – made from bamboo, (eco-friendly, soft feeling, natural odour eliminating and moisture wicker) and they have a built in liner to leave you feeling protected.
Bridget Jones made big granny undies famous – but she’s definitely not alone in having to resort to this style of pants at least once a month.
With Modibodi you can wear sexy pants all the time! They even do a maternity and breastfeeding line including feeding bras that hold up to 2 teaspoons of liquid.
I also love brands who give back – not only are they an eco friendly option (made from bamboo and also replacing eco-damaging disposable liners) they also promote the power of purchase – supporting a multitude of different local and international women’s charities. One of the main organisations that they work with is the wonderful McGrath Foundation which raises funds to place specialist breast care nurses in communities across Australia, to support the thousands of women and men diagnosed with breast cancer, and to increase breast health understanding and awareness. During the month of February every purchase of the ‘Sensual Boy Leg in Rose Pink’ saw a 15% donation from Modibodi direct to the foundation. Anyone who dared to bare and posted a photo on social media of their pants in action would see Modibodi donate 100% of the profit from the sale to the foundation. I was gifted my pants for the purpose of this review but have donated the value of them directly to the McGrath Foundation.
So how did my pair go? We live in Cairns where the time from getting out of the shower to needing another shower is about 3.5 minutes – so any type of clothing made from cool fabric is a win. It’s the middle of summer here and I normally get changed twice a day to stay feeling fresh – especially as we are so active – hubby is always amazed at how many of my clothes are in the wash compared to his (he seems to forget he walks round in airy boxers all day!) but I managed to wear my boy legs all day and still felt great. I was initially worried about the style and cut – I love the look of the boy leg but have never been able to wear them before – they never seem to stay where they should and I’m forever readjusting them. However the Modibodis stayed in place all day and felt super comfortable. I’ve since read that a lot of work went in to the design of all their range of underwear including testing and measurements on real women to get the best fit – no one size fits all mentality here. For this reason you can also find styles to suit every seat – from curvy to active.
I’m pretty excited to try some more of what Modibodi has to offer and recommend you try them too – with their 30 day guarantee you’ve really got nothing to lose! All they need now is an app to organise my underwear drawer! Get browsing their range here.
