How to Plan a Family Lap of Australia – the Ultimate Guide

August 29, 2018 by Bryony @ Coasting Australia Leave a Comment

If you’re thinking about doing a lap of Australia then congrats! The hardest part is making the mental leap that it’s something you and your family can achieve. Once you’ve made that huge jump out of your comfort zone the rest of the steps are easy in comparison. Realising that you can live a life less ordinary and challenge ‘normal’ expectations of how we should spend time with our kids is freedom in itself – and the feeling of driving away on your big lap is like no other!

The kids will learn so much just from the journey alone, and every day will be an adventure! But figuring out how to make the dream a reality takes a bit of work. Every family is different so there will be lots of things to consider – but we’ve put together a free course – ‘How to Plan a Family Lap of Australia’ to give you a head start on all the things that you’ll need to think about.

From making that jump the new mindset to the more practical side of things like what to do with your mail, we’ve covered all aspects of the early planning stages.

Lesson one will guide you through the initial steps to make your dream a reality – the first steps you need to take even when your trip still seems a long way away.

In lesson two we talk about how we chose our vehicle – there are so many options out there you might have no idea whether you should buy a caravan, camper trailer, bus or motorhome. We’ve put together the pros and cons of each and there’s also a fun quiz you can do to help you.

Lesson three gives you all our inside tips on how to budget for a lap of Australia – how you can plan before you leave and how much you will spend on the road. We also include a handy spreadsheet that you can use to make your calculations.

Lesson four continues on the money – talking about how we’ve made a few dollars while we travel and some things you can try.

In lesson five we let you in on our secrets of rent free travel – if you are looking to travel longer term then staying every night in a caravan park at $40 might not be an option for you.

Lesson six gives you some hints and tips on the best ways to share your adventures online or on social media.

Lesson seven will give you some final tips to think about just before you hit the road!

The course ‘How to Plan a Family Lap of Australia’ is absolutely free – our year of travelling has given us so many incredible experiences that we want as many other families to experience it as possible – whether it is for a month, a year or more. We hope that our adventures can inspire you to make the leap – you definitely won’t look back!

You can sign up to the course – ‘How to Plan a Family Lap of Australia’ on this link and get unlimited access.

See you on the road!
