Has anyone else noticed how expensive it is to get sick?
We’ve had a few coughs and colds in the family recently and between doctors visits, medicines and treatments we’ve spent a huge part of our week’s budget getting well again.
I also should have known that around Christmas with the busy schedule and general over-indulgence we were all at higher risks of getting run down – and should have taken some extra precautions to beat the bugs going around.

Pavlova – there’s fruit on it so it’s healthy – right?
Travelling can also put a strain on the system – there is a tendency on holidays to eat more convenience foods and if you add plane, bus or train travel to the mix it can add even more pressure on to our immune systems.
I’ve always been a big advocate for healthy living – trying to find gentler and more natural ways to wellness before medicating – and have used essential oils for minor ailments for years. Prevention is definitely better than a cure and I’ve applied traditional oils for insect bites, headaches, sleep and general wellness on all the family with great success – which is why I jumped at the chance to review the ‘Write To Heal’ essential oil blend made exclusively by Leanda Michelle.
Essential Oils
If you’re new to the world of essential oils then a whole world of goodness awaits you! An essential oil in very basic terms is an oil extracted from different parts of plants, barks and even fruits – with beautiful aromas that can have various therapeutic effects on the body and especially the mind. How many times have you smelled a certain smell that has transported you back to another place and time – coconut always takes me to the beach! The brain has a very specific way of dealing with smells and our nervous system responds to the scents around us in a powerful manner – for me peppermint and lavender oils work wonders to reduce my stress levels and combat headaches – it’s no wonder they call it aroma-therapy!
Write to Heal
I know some basics about essential oils but what I didn’t know is that as well as helping with different mental, physical and emotional ailments they can also have other practical and productive uses in day to day life. Leanda has created a unique blend of 12 oils designed specifically to aid creativity, provide focus and grounding and to encourage motivation – all the things that I need to keep my website and blog up to date with so many fun distractions!
I’ve been using the blend for a couple of weeks now (I have been using the oil in my diffuser at home and directly on to pulse points when out and about) and have loved the uplifting, complex aroma and the boost it gives to my mood and concentration.
I’ve picked up a few weeks work in an office and after travelling around in the open air for 6 months it has been a real shock to the system! The daily commute, plus exposure to computers, fluoro lights and traffic noise all day is a real attack on the senses – I have found that taking the oil to work with me and using in the office really helps to clear my mind. My colleagues all love it too – whenever I open the lid someone will ask what the wonderful smell is – and of course with the aroma in the air I’m offering the whole office the benefits of my natural treatment for lethargy, distraction and un-productivity! The boss should totally subsidize me!

Revitalised after using my Write to Heal Blend at work!
Perfect for Kids
The ease of administering essential oils also makes them a great option for use with kids. Simply diffusing an oil around the bus or house can change the household mood and depending on which oil I choose can create a refreshing or relaxing atmosphere. I have found while diffusing my Write to Heal blend that I have been able to think creatively and to write with ease – as well as noticing that the kids seem to be a little less manic (we have two boys) despite the amount of festive treats that are still going around!
Where to Buy

The subtle scent of violets reminds me of visits to my great-grandmother’s home. It was a long trip over dirt roads. Grummy had violets growing and she had flowers in her home. Her soap was violet scented also.
What beautiful memories – thank you for sharing!
That’s a beautiful memory Marilyn. My grandmothers name was Violet and she had several pots of violets growing on her kitchen window sill. Best wishes for winning the Write to Heal Bundle!
